Green building is at the Leading Edge of Building Design and Construction!
Construction projects that are commissioned ‘green’ can position themselves as having been constructed to a superior specification and can leverage this in the market to gain a meaningful competitive advantage over conventionally designed buildings. Already commercial buildings and developments: offices, shopping centres, hospitals, business parks, hotel resorts and residential developments are seeking ways to incorporate green building principals in their design.
Existing buildings can be retrofitted to achieve ecological objectives such as energy efficiency. In developed countries, with Germany leading the way, retrofitting expertise is well developed and results from multiple projects and business models internationally are readily available, providing insight on how to achieve the greatest savings and minimum payback periods.
New building design however remains the holy-grail as many more benefits can be achieved through the design process. The uptake of green building practices will lead to a new generation of high performance buildings that will attract the best clients, tenants, and property owners and customers.
The financial benefits are leading to an ever increasing number of green building developments world wide, professionals are gearing up their knowledge and understanding of Green Building and product and materials suppliers are becoming ever more innovative in their bid to provide the expertise, technologies and solutions required to minimise the environmental impact buildings.
At the Mauritius Green Building Conference and Exhibition 2010, some of the world’s best green building projects will be presented and reviewed and leading materials, products, expertise and technology suppliers will exhibit their solutions.
Regulators and corporate decision makers, property owners and developers, professionals and specifiers, contractors and sub-contractors, NGO’s and the media, and all other stake holders form the construction industry in Mauritius and SADC will be invited to attend, to learn more about green building practices and solutions relevant to Mauritius.
